My Story – Coach & Founder, SB Futbol Academy

 

My name is Sergio O. Barajas , and I’m 29 years old. My love for the game began before I could even understand it—kicking a ball around with my dad in Mexico, in the city of Morelia, at just 2 years old. Soccer wasn’t just a sport in our household—it was culture, connection, and a dream I carried with me when my family brought me to the U.S. at the age of 7.

Growing up as a young kid in a Hispanic household in Illinois, I didn’t have access to elite facilities or expensive club programs—but what I did have was a deep passion, relentless drive, and faith in God's plan. I began training kids in local parks and even backyards, just sharing what I knew and passing on my love for the game.

That small beginning grew into something I never imagined—SB Futbol Academy. From one-on-one backyard sessions to owning my own training facility, I’ve seen firsthand what happens when dedication meets opportunity.

Our mission is simple: to help athletes of all levels get better—on and off the field—while giving Glory to God through our work. We specialize in private and small group training that’s personalized, intense, and rooted in the fundamentals that make great players and great people.

Every athlete has a story, and every journey is different. Mine started with a ball at my feet in Morelia Mexico—and now, I’m honored to walk alongside the next generation of players chasing their dreams.
